Windscreen Repairs Victoria

Professional Repairs for Chipped and Cracked Windscreens

A chip or small crack can spread when exposed to road vibration, moisture and changes in temperature. Having the damage assessed early gives you a better chance of repairing the windscreen before the problem becomes more extensive.

Windscreen Deals provides windscreen repairs from our Heidelberg West workshop and through our mobile service across Melbourne. With more than 40 years of industry experience, we can assess and repair windscreens for vehicles of all makes and models.

Can Your Windscreen Be Repaired?

Whether a windscreen can be repaired depends on the type, size, depth and location of the damage. We inspect the windscreen before recommending the most suitable option.

Damage That May Be Repairable

A repair may be possible when:

  • The chip or crack is small and localised
  • The damage has not spread across the windscreen
  • The damaged area is away from the edge of the glass
  • The damage does not significantly affect the driver’s vision
  • Only the outer layer of the windscreen is damaged

Every windscreen is assessed individually, as damage that appears minor from the outside may be deeper or more extensive than expected.

When a Repair May Not Be Suitable

Repair may not be appropriate when the damage is too large, deep or widespread. Damage near the edge of the glass or directly within the driver’s line of vision may also require a different solution.

If the windscreen cannot be safely repaired, we will explain why and advise whether a windscreen replacement is required.

Why Repair Windscreen Damage Early?

A small chip may initially appear harmless, but vibration from everyday driving and changes in temperature can cause the damage to spread.

Repairing the windscreen early can:

  • Help prevent a chip from developing into a larger crack
  • Avoid the cost of replacing the entire windscreen
  • Improve the appearance of the damaged area
  • Reduce disruption by addressing the problem sooner
  • Retain the existing windscreen when repair is suitable

The sooner the damage is assessed, the greater the likelihood that a repair may still be possible.

Our Process

1

Assessment

We inspect the damage to determine whether the windscreen can be safely repaired

2

The damaged area is cleaned and prepared for the repair resin

3

Filling and Curing

Specialised resin is applied and cured to stabilise the damaged glass

4

Checking

We check the completed repair and finish the surface for a smooth result

Will the Chip Disappear Completely?

A professional repair can significantly improve the appearance of a chip or small crack, but it may not make the damage completely invisible.

A faint mark or blemish can remain depending on the type, age and severity of the damage. The main purpose of the repair is to stabilise the damaged area and reduce the likelihood of it spreading while improving the appearance of the windscreen.
